I developed my love of literature with a steady diet of horror classics, the arts section of newspapers, National Geographic, album reviews, and psychology books. Diverse, yes, but all share a foundation of cohesive, captivating stories. The internet has forever changed the way we tell stories and I hope to continue discovering the intersection between storytelling and technology to efficiently and effectively captivate audiences.
As a writer, editor, and researcher, I have experience in a variety of work including short and long form storytelling, breaking news reporting, copy editing, digital content creation, editorial strategy, and more.
Currently, I work as the content strategist for the University of Georgia’s College of Education. I create both print and digital stories to reflect the college’s efforts in research, outreach, news, and highlight the achievements of exceptional students and faculty.
Previously, I’ve worked with a variety of publications — Creative Loafing, Atlanta magazine, Georgia Public Broadcasting, ArtsATL, Marietta Daily Journal, and more — both as an editor and freelance writer. While each publication has a different target audience, each share common elements including the desire of brand identity based on credibility, require a basic understanding of data analytics to measure how stories are being discussed, shared, and used, and demand in-depth research.
“I can never read all the books I want; I can never be all the people I want and live all the lives I want. I can never train myself in all the skills I want. And why do I want? I want to live and feel all the shades, tones and variations of mental and physical experience possible in my life. And I am horribly limited.” ―
